F.A.Q

Q. WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE THE MOVERS GET HERE?

A. RELAX!! If your not ready, just do what you can, we can handle the rest. We even have extra boxes when we show up to your home. Worried about your belongings? You will see as soon we walk in the door, that we are professional, polite and ready to help you.

Q.  WHAT IF I HAVE NO TIME TO GET READY?

A.Well if you know in advance that you can’t get everything done before the big moving day, call us and we can find a solution. We offer many different services, such as packing & unpacking, move coordination people who can help you with painting & preparing your new home (or cleaning the old one after you leave) - Montreal Important Links -

Q.  WHAT IF SOMETHING DOESN’T FIT AND WE HAVE TO DO MORE THAN 1 TRIP?

A. Sometimes that happens. In the event of that happing, The Man with his Van will drop off what we have in the truck and return for the rest. If the fault was on The Man because he didn’t send the right truck or didn’t pack right,  travel time from point B-A & A-B will not be charged to the client.

Q.  WHAT IF I NEED TO DO AN EXTRA STOP OR 2?

A. No problem just let us know when we arrive at your home. There is no extra charge for this service, the time rolls from point A to point B

Q.  WHAT IF I HAVE A CAT OR A DOG, WHAT DO I DO?

A. The man with his van loves animals & even has 2 dogs! But when it comes to moving day, pets sometimes get in the way or can even escape!! We hate seeing our clients running around the neighborhood with a piece of sausage trying to catch the family dog! Leave him in an empty room or a small cage. He won’t mind that as much as you think!

Q.  DO I HAVE TO EMPTY THE FURNITURE OR APLLIENCIES?

A. he Man with his Van thinks it’s a good idea to empty everything because not only will the item weigh more and be destabilized due to its uneven distribution of weight, you might also loose something or damage it. Leaving stuff in furniture to save time doesn’t work; a few extra boxes never killed anyone. Taking the drawers out is not a good idea either because the piece sometimes becomes a little more wobbly, or loose. Your best bet is to put everything in boxes. And yes, we do sell boxes - Moving Material -

Q.  ARE THERE ANY OTHER APPLICABLE CHARGES?

A. There can be, but they are always communicated to the client upon arrival.  We are not sneaky like some other companies do once they have your piece in the truck. Examples of this include a sofa that doesn’t fit through a door or stairwell & consequently has to be hoisted. Pianos, safes and anything else with excessive weight will also be charged as an extra.

Q.  ARE WE EXPECTED TO TIP?

A. Tips are always appreciated and are always at the discretion of the client. If you want to know how much to tip, well you be the judge. In the end, you will have seen how hard your Man has worked.

Q. What happens if it rains or snows on my moving day?

A. We will always honor our moving commitments regardless of weather. Unpredictable weather might slow down the job but weather is unavoidable. In such as case, our movers will take precautions to protect floors and carpeting from excess dirt and soil.

Q. How early do I have to reserve movers before moving day?

A. The sooner the better whenever possible.  Considering some time periods are busier than others, we suggest a time frame of 4 to 6 weeks prior to moving day. If this is not possible, call us as soon as you can and our team will look towards accommodating your needs within the existing reservation schedule.

Q. When is the best time to move?

A. If you have the choice, most moving companies suggest you avoid the summer, beginning or end of the month or winter holidays due to the high demand for  vans, equipment and personnel during these periods.

Q. How can I keep my moving costs in line with my budget?

A. We encourage you to take advantage of our free estimation service within the planning process of your moving day. Once your needs are evaluated and all details are taken into consideration, you can decide on your personal budget and plan accordingly. On moving day, we will honor our quote and thus avoid any unpleasant surprises in your budgeted fees.

Q. Do movers disassemble furniture?

A. Yes they do, but it always helps cut time when you do it yourself.

Q. Do I have to empty my drawers?

A. We recommend that all clothes and items be removed from inside the furniture. This includes all desks, dressers, armoires...etc. This makes the furniture much lighter and easier to move and limits wear and tear to your furniture during the move. Be careful not to leave fragile items and anything that might spill or leak in the drawers to avoid unfortunate surprises once you begin unpacking.

Q. Should I put tape on all the doors, shelfs, and parts of furniture that move?

A. We suggest that you leave that to use, we cover all furniture with moving blankets, so none of your drawers will move or door open. And it will be difficult to remove the tape & may damage the furniture.
